What You Need to Know about Toilet Flushing Systems
Modern toilet flushing systems have advanced technology that reduces water consumption, helps keep the toilet clean and provides more powerful suction. So, which one should you choose for your home needs? In this issue we start with four common flushing systems
1. Gravity flush
Gravity flush toilets are commonly used in homes around the world. These models, also known as siphon toilets, have a cistern that holds water. When the flush button or lever on the gravity flush toilet is pressed, the water in the cistern pushes all the waste in the toilet through the waste pipe. The flushing motion also helps to keep the toilet clean after each use. Gravity flush toilets rarely clog and are relatively easy to maintain. They also do not require many complicated components and are silent when not flushing. These features explain why they are still such a preferred choice in many homes.
2. Dual flush
Dual flush toilets offer two different types of flush: half flush and full flush. The half-flush uses less water to remove liquid waste from the bowl via a gravity inlet system, while the full-flush option uses a pressure-assisted system to flush away solid waste. Dual flush toilets are usually more expensive than standard gravity flush toilets, but they are more water efficient and better for the environment. The water-saving benefits of these low-flow toilets make them a popular choice for areas facing water shortages. They are also becoming increasingly sought after by consumers hoping to reduce their overall environmental footprint.
3. Pressure-assisted
Pressure assisted toilets offer a very powerful flush, making them ideal for households where multiple family members share a single toilet. The flushing mechanism of the pressure-assisted toilet is to press water into the tank by means of pressurised air. Due to their powerful flushing capacity, it is rarely necessary to flush these toilets several times to remove waste. However, the pressurised flushing mechanism makes these types of toilets louder than most other options.
4. Double cyclone type
Dual cycle flush toilets are among the newer types of toilets available today. They are more eco-friendly than gravity-flush or pressure-assisted types. These toilets feature two water nozzles along the rim instead of the holes along the rim found in other models. These nozzles spray water for an effective flush with minimal usage thus saving water and energy and contributing to environmental protection.
