Reason for Having Two Buttons on the Flush Plate
There are many such things in the world that we see every day but know very little about them. One of them is the flush toilet in your home. When you go to the toilet in your home, office, mall or any other place, you must have noticed that there is often a big and a small button in the flusher, but have you ever wondered why it is? Why isn't there a single button when both are used for the same thing? Or even if there are two buttons, what is the difference between them?
These levers or buttons made in modern toilets are all connected to the outlet valve. Press the big button, about 6 liters of water, press the small button, 3 to 4.5 liters of water. Not only do people use them as needed, but there is also a direct link to water conservation. According to media reports, many people use regular flushing at home. A regular flush is a bit cheaper than a dual flush, but if you use a dual flush instead of a single flush in your bathroom at home or anywhere, you can get about 20,000 liters of water a year. Even though dual flush installations are a bit pricey, you can slash your water bills because of this.
The Dual Flush concept is the creation of American industrial designer Victor Papanek. This was also mentioned by Victor Papanek in his 1976 book ‘Designing for the Real World’. The double flush concept was first implemented in Australia in 1980.
